Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to set forth the guidelines that have been agreed upon by majority vote of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Chapter in regards to awards and recognition bestowed upon members. Any of these policies can be changed and or revoked upon majority vote of the Board of Directors. Risk Manager of the Year The Risk Manager of the Year program was established by the Board to recognize superior performance by a San Diego risk manager who is also a member of the chapter. The award is given at the January meeting. The recipient will receive an engraved glass plaque along with a cash award of $500. They will also receive a badge attachment engraved "Risk Manager of the Year." Heart of RIMS At the end of each year the Board of Directors will vote for a candidate to be nominated for the Heart of RIMS award. In addition to whether the candidate wins the national award, the chapter will recognize the recipient at a future chapter meeting and present them with the Heart of The Chapter jacket. The jacket is a forest green jacket with "San Diego Chapter – Heart of The Chapter" embroidered on it. The recipient will also have a badge attachment engraved "Heart of The Chapter" and the year designated. Committee of the Year Each working committee receives a stipend of $200 per year for meal expenses. In order to recognize the hard work and dedication of our Committee members, and in order to encourage all members of the San Diego Chapter to join and participate in the activities of a Committee, the Chapter offers the following recognition awards:
Committee Service Recognition Award: Each Committee meeting the established Award Criteria will receive recognition at the February Meeting. Each fully participating member of a Recognized Committee will receive a Certificate of Appreciation, and the following:
Committee of the Year Award: The Board of Directors will select one Committee from all those receiving the Committee Service Recognition Award to be the Committee Of The Year. In order to receive this prestigious award, the winning Committee must demonstrate the highest level of effort and of accomplishment above and beyond the criteria for the Committee Service Recognition Award. This Award will be presented to the participating members of that Committee selected by the Board of Directors as "The Best Of The Best." The recipients of this Award will receive:
Associate in Risk Management Designation (ARM) The ARM recognition program was established to honor those chapter members and non-members who have earned their ARM designation during the previous year. Each deputy member will receive an engraved glass desk globe. Each associate member will receive a certificate of appreciation. The awards are presented at the October meeting. All previous ARM recipients will also be honored by standing and receiving a round of applause. Associate Member Appreciation Day The Associate Member Appreciation Day was established to honor those associate members who have provided their support to the Chapter. The intent is to attempt to ensure event availability to those associate members who have been active by sending those invitations out with a one week advance notice. The event is voted and approved by the Board on an annual basis. The current event is a day at the Del Mar Races. The event includes admission, food, two drink tickets and our recommended picks for winning horses J . Admission for deputy members is on a discounted paid basis determined each year by the Board based on the current cost. Speaker Gifts It is the desire of the chapter to acknowledge meeting speakers with a token of our appreciation. The type of gift will be voted on at the chapter retreat in January. Flowers The chapter authorizes any two board members to order flowers for condolences in the case of a funeral, illness, birth of a child, etc., for board members or active chapter members. Active chapter members are either deputy or associate members. In addition, the board will vote at a chapter meeting for the purchase of any other types of gifts, such as a wedding gift, etc.
