THE PURPOSE OF EACH COMMITTEE IS TO ACCOMPLISH THE GOALS OF THE SAN DIEGO CHAPTER OF RIMS AS DETERMINED BY ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS. SPECIFICALLY, TO FURTHER THE CAUSE OF RISK MANAGEMENT, INFORM AND EDUCATE THE MEMBERSHIP, RAISE MONEY FOR THE CHAPTER, AND TO ASSIST MEMBERS TO ASSUME INCREASED RESPONSIBILITY WITHIN THE CHAPTER. Standing Committees: · Outreach/Community Services · Membership · Nomination/Chapter Succession · Programming · Golf Committee
Purpose: Each year, no later than February 1st, the chair shall either reaffirm or revise, in writing, the Statement of Purpose to the Board of Directors. This Statement shall communicate to the general membership the reason that the Committee exists, and convey in general terms what the Committee is to accomplish during the calendar year. Goals: The Goals must be submitted, in writing, to the Board of Directors annually, no later than March 1st, support the purpose of the Committee, and be agreed to by a majority of the Committee members. Such goals must be accomplished within the calendar year, be specific, attainable, and in the interest of the San Diego Chapter of RIMS. Chair: The Chair shall be a regular Deputy Member of the San Diego Chapter of RIMS, and is responsible for the overall functioning of the Committee, including the accomplishment of the annual goals of the Committee. The Chair is also responsible for membership recruitment, and sets and presides over the Committee meetings. Where practicable, the Chair should not be a member of the Board of Directors. Board Liaison: Each standing committee shall have a Board Liaison, who is a member of the current Board of Directors. This person should refrain from running the Committee, and will only be in charge of the Committee in the absence of the Chair. It is the Liaison’s responsibility to guide the Committee to adhere to RIMS and the San Diego Chapter’s Constitution and By-Law’s, and to conform to other policies & procedures as have been implemented by the San Diego Chapter. The Liaison reports to the Board the progress of the Committee in accomplishing its goals, obtains approval for funding needed by the Committee, and gives an accounting of the money spent and raised by the Committee. Membership: Membership in the Committee shall consist only of Deputy and Associate Members in good standing. There will be no assessment of dues or other sums of money to be a Committee Member. Adding & Deleting Standing Committees: Standing Committees may either be added or deleted by a majority vote of the entire Board of Directors, as needed.
